Attunement will happen immediately when touched. Whoever is attuned to the rapier can attempt to put it away, but to do so they must succeed a DC 17 Charisma saving throw.
When attacking with this rapier it will always cast the Vicious Mockery spell. If an attack roll made with this rapier hits a creature, the Vicious Mockery spell will target the creature which has been hit. If an attack made with this rapier misses a creature, the Vicious Mockery spell will target the wielder of the rapier instead. A critical failure will be treated as a critical hit, but against the wielder of the Rapier.
